From the adhesive to the finish: what each layer does,
explained without motion.

Adhesive
Adhesive mortar that bonds the insulation board to the substrate. Depending on the system and the condition of the substrate, it is applied as a perimeter bead with central dabs or over the whole surface.

Insulation board
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) board. It wraps the building from the outside, reduces heat loss and gain through the façade and minimises thermal bridges.
- 03
First base coat
First pass of base mortar over the insulation. It evens out the surface and is the bed in which the reinforcement mesh is embedded.
- 04
Mechanical fixing
Plate anchor that fixes the insulation board to the substrate in addition to the adhesive. The type, number and position of the anchors are set by the system manufacturer according to the substrate, the height and the wind exposure.

Reinforcement mesh
Glass-fibre mesh embedded between the two passes of base mortar. It spreads stresses and helps to prevent cracks.

Second base coat
Second pass of base mortar. It fully covers the mesh and leaves a flat, continuous surface to receive the finish.
- 07
Finish coat
Decorative render. It protects the system from the weather and sets the colour and texture of the façade.
About the model
The model is an indicative representation. Thicknesses are exaggerated for legibility and do not correspond to any specific system: they are set by the system manufacturer and the project. The mesh is drawn with a wider grid than the real one.
ETICS in Fachadas Salvatiño projects
ETICS insulates the façade from the outside with insulating boards, reinforcement layers and a final render. Its configuration is adapted to the technical needs of the building and to the specific system chosen.
Fachadas Salvatiño studies each façade and proposes ETICS when it is the right solution. The type and thickness of the insulation, the fixings, the mortars and the finish are defined by the specific system chosen and the project.
